MVFT is a union of almost 1400 members that includes teachers, teaching assistants and security in the Mount Vernon City School District in Westchester County, NY.

MVFT is a member of New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) and affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the National Education Association (NEA). NYSUT is also part of organized labor - the AFL-CIO - and of Education International with more than 20 million members worldwide.

Through a representative democratic structure, the MVFT is committed to improving the quality of education for all students, ensuring safe working conditions, supporting community programs for families in need and negotiating a fair contract.
