MVFT is a union of more than 1,000 members that includes Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and Security Monitors in the Mount Vernon City School District of Westchester County, NY.
The MVFT is a member of New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) and is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the National Education Association (NEA). NYSUT is also part of organized labor—the AFL-CIO—and of Education International, with more than 20 million members worldwide.
Through a representative democratic structure, the MVFT is committed to improving the quality of education for all students, ensuring safe working conditions, supporting community programs for families in need, and negotiating a fair contract.
